Activity in New Zealand’s equity capital markets in 2016 remained consistent with 2015 a er giddy growth in 2013 and 2014.
The New Zealand equity capital markets continued to perform reasonably well throughout the year, with the NZX 50 absorbing the Brexit and Trump shock waves to reach a record high in September and nishing 8.8% up on 2015.
But the number of issuers on the NZX Main Board dropped, ending at least ve years of expansion. The drop was due largely to delistings as a result of takeovers, combined with a modest number of IPOs.
