The Role

As our operations continue to grow we are facilitating increasing levels of investment. With increasing investment levels, we now have a need for additional resource in our risk and compliance function. We are looking to hire someone in a part time role for the equivalent of 2-3 days per week.

We are hiring a Compliance Manager to support the growing compliance needs of Snowball Effect and to ensure we continue to maintain the highest possible standards in our risk and compliance framework. You will provide the skills and expertise to support this crucial part of our business as we continue to grow and expand our product offering.

To complete the role to a high standard you will ideally have the following:

  • Anti-money laundering, or other relevant compliance related experience.
  • Previous experience working with the relevant legislation within the financial services industry.
  • An understanding of investment industry compliance requirements, including AML/CFT compliance.
  • Two or more years experience in a compliance or risk related role or policy and procedure role.
  • Knowledge of FMA regulations and legislation and risk/compliance management strategies.

The ideal Compliance Manager will have the following:

  • Ability to build effective relationships with regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to deal with compliance obligations in a timely manner and prioritise.
  • Ability to work with clients in a professional manner.
  • Ability to stay up to date with risk and compliance trends.
  • Enquiring mind and investigative ability.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a highly regulated environment.

Key Accountabilities

As the Compliance Manager you will assist with the management, oversight and reporting of the risk and compliance programme, and will have accountability for the following areas:

  • Completing customer due diligence and enhanced customer due diligence in accordance with our risk assessment and AML/CFT programme, policies and processes.
  • Monitoring and report any suspicious activity and politically exposed persons.
  • Maintaining the compliance calendar.
  • Preparing reports and regulatory filings to comply with our AML/CFT programme and license obligations.
  • Ongoing review of internal policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring the wider team is up to date with compliance related training and news.

This is a critical support position within Snowball Effect and will play a key role in developing an important part of New Zealand’s capital markets.
